There once lived an ambitious young man
Who discovered the secret to Growth -
(real growth)
A particular kind of growth
Potentially beneficial to countless:
And though Visible to all -
Everyday and in every way
yet somehow. He saw things in
Another way
So anyway...
He decided to share his dream
Knocking on doors and talking
He talked and talked and talked to
anyone and to everyone
The months turning into years
His voice going gravelly hoarse as
Some laughed or were openly rude
Yet others attempted to copy
Or blatantly plagiarised
Whilst others quietly dissuaded in -
A myriad of ways
Behind his back.
All the while thinking:
How DARE he? Think different!
How dare he? See different!
How dare he? Talk different!
The real surprise was that often
The greatest resistance came from his own people.
Same sex, same race, same culture
Same religion.
Then one day things came to a head
and finally someone stepped up
and stood up for him.
Turning the tables they cried:
How dare YOU speak this way?
How dare you behave this way
How dare you act this way?
Only then did the Tide begin
To really turn
